Lovely Accommodation, central location, fabulous staff !!They saved the day!

We were a hen group coming to Kinsale for 2 nights. We had originally booked other accommodation months in advance so knew nothing about friars lodge. On the day we were travelling down for the hen, i received a phone call stating i was double booked and we could not stay there anymore. it was a nightmare and we had no where to stay. I went to a local hotel to ask for help and they called our fairy god mother Maureen at Friars lodge. Maureen heard our story and immediately opened up Friars lodge for us to stay in. Maureen gave us as many rooms as we needed and more. Nothing was too big an ask even when we locked one of the keys in the bedroom she came straight away and sorted us out. Maureen was so kind and friendly and we had the whole guesthouse to ourselves. Maureen was renovating the property so it was closed for a few weeks but saved our hen weekend by taking us in. Maureen we cant thank you enough you really helped us out. When we got there i was so happy with the rooms. All the rooms were massive! I think it is better than some hotels I have stayed in. We had everything we needed in the rooms including, tv, iron, towels, toiletries, tea making facilities and the location was absolutely perfect! We were a 2 minute walking distance from all local attractions. I have always heard kinsale is such a friendly spot and the people are amazing but Maureen you went above and beyond for us and we cant thank you enough. If anyone is thinking about Friars lodge I would highly recommend this place its amazing!

Central location, clean and friendly

"A great spot for a girls weekend in Kinsale. The owner showed great kindness to us and the guesthouse is in a fantastic location for exploring the beautiful little town of Kinsale. This was my second visit to Friar’s Lodge, having stayed here a number of years ago for a wedding in Ballinacurra House."

Fantastic Visit

I recently spent a great weekend in the beautiful, historic town of Kinsale staying at this hotel/guest house which was spacious, comfortable and clean. It is centrally located and only a short walk to restaurants, bars and cafes. The proprietor was welcoming, friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. I can’t wait to go back.

Delightful Stay

We recently booked a family room at the Friars Lodge. It was very impressive regarding its location, it is a two minute walk into the heart of the beautiful town of Kinsale, with free car parking. The approach to the lodge from Cork is really easy to get to and avoids having to navigate your car through the winding medieval streets of Kinsale, which are better approached on a leisurely stroll. The room was incredibly spacious for our family of four. The beds were really comfortable and everything was clean and tidy. The lodge was also located in quiet surroundings so the kids had no problems drifting off to sleep. The wifi was fast enough for us to download movies quickly onto the iPad to watch with the kids just before bedtime. The room also had an iron which was great for giving packed clothes a quick run through before heading out in the evening. The breakfasts in the morning were great and provided something for everyone in our young family, the cooked breakfast was superb. Maureen, who owns the lodge, was welcoming, incredibly nice and really put us at ease, with great knowledge of the area. This was our first Covid 19 trip and we were reassured by the level of social distancing and hand sanitiser in the lodge. It was excellent value for money and I would easily recommend it to anyone with a young family or anyone wishing to visit Kinsale,

A Little Gem Thank you again Maureen and Mary. We know Kinsale well but this was a trip back down memory lane. We found the perfect place to stay. Comfortable spacious bedrooms, large bathroom with great shower. WiFi 100%. Very reasonably priced and lovely and quiet. Such a perfect location. Delicious breakfast. We had such a happy time and your place definitely helped that. We will be back.

Friar’s Lodge This mid range hotel was centrally located and near excellent restaurants and lively pubs with music. It was homey and spacious. It had free wi-if, but poor TV reception. We weren’t interested in TV, so this wasn’t an issue for us. Breakfast included both cold and hot options with a full Irish breakfast as an option.

Great location, lovely rooms and a delicious breakfast There were four os traveling aging in range from 67 to 79 and we found this to be a VERY comfortable place all around. Maureen and Mary arranged transportation to dinner as well as suggestions. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was a real treat--two choices of fish! Location can't be beat-just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the center of town. It will be on my return list if I go back to Kinsale.

Wonderful visit at Friar's Lodge Three of us stayed here for two nights. Terrific rooms with all the amenities, great breakfasts, great view out over the town--and wonderfully quiet. A free parking lot out backhand boy is that helpful in Kinsale. The best was the welcoming and charming energy of Maureen Tierney, the innkeeper; she know EVERYTHING about the area, helps run the literary festival, and she even has fantastic signed photographic portraits of people like Samuel Beckett on the walls! How cool is that?!

Exemplified Kinsale Perfectly We were there as part of a Rick Steves Tour. It just fit in perfectly with the Kinsale atmosphere. It certainly was not fancy, but very authentic to the town. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was good and people were friendly.
