2017 “Kinsale is the friendliest place on Earth! " I'm well travelled having been all over the globe but Kinsale struck a chord with me - it is honestly the friendliest place I have ever visited! What made our stay extra comfortable was the hospitality Maureen and Mary showed from the moment we checked in. Maureen wrote down a list of pubs for us to check out for an afternoon pint, booked us into a 3-bed instead of having to pay extra for a single occupancy room and upon check-out, Mary arranged for us to get bacon sandwiches made for the early trip back to the airport. Couldn't fault the place and I look forward to coming back one day soon."
March 2017 Family wedding "Stayed in Friars Lodge over St. Patrick's weekend with my family. We booked 6 rooms. Each room was huge, warm and very clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was any bother. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
It was very quiet and has a guest carpark to the back that is a bonus as Friars lodge is situated on a little, narrow street up a small hill from the hustle and bustle of the beautiful Kinsale town.
We dealt with Maureen prior to our visit and nothing was any bother.
Mary was also very helpful. The rooms are reasonably priced and it is well worth a stay.
I would stay here again if I return to Kinsale!"
Oct 2016Friar's Lodge, Kinsale "Excellent B&B in the heart of charming Kinsale. Room was spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Good breakfast and service in a very nice setting. Nearby parking was a plus. Kinsale itself is worth a multi-day stay."

"We stay at the excellent
Friar’s Lodge, a four-star guest house in a quiet
street just behind the main shopping area offering luxurious
accommodation at modest prices.
Owners Finbarr and Maureen
Tierney have run the lodge for years and present
the perfect Irish welcome.
Their full Irish breakfast
is not to be missed, though you can opt for the “catch
of the day”, where lodge staff will pop down to
the fish market and bring back the morning’s fresh
haul."
Friars Lodge Review from Sunday Independent
Lucinda O'Sullivan heads to Kinsale & enjoys some
of the best guest-housekeeping in the country
"We stayed at Friars
Lodge, a custom built new four star accommodation owned
by the ever-smiling and helpful Maureen Tierney, who
has been in the hospitality business in Kinsale for
a long time and who is always ahead of the posse in
providing for visitors wants.
Maureen provides fine luxury
accommodation and services with 18 lovely, spacious,
hotel style rooms, big beds, suites with minbars, safes,
internet connections, a wine menu for residents and
even a golf club drying room.
There are Stylish lounge
areas in which to relax, and even a decanter of sherry
for a courtesy aperitif before you go out to eat. Oh,
and most importantly in busy kinsale, it has a big private
car park."
